Inclined tube settlers.

Inclined tube packs that give a clarifier a much larger settling area inside the same tank, so a clarification or tertiary settling duty is done in a smaller footprint.

What an inclined tube settler does

Sedimentation works on settling depth: a floc particle only has to fall as far as the surface it is being separated from, so the shallower the settling channel, the more water the same plan area will clarify. An inclined tube settler stacks that shallow depth many times over inside one tank. Each tube is a short settling channel of its own, and together the packs give the tank an effective settling area several times its own footprint. Floc that settles onto the tube walls slides down and drops into the hopper below, the clarified water leaves from the top of the tank, and the sludge that collects in the hopper is drawn off. The result is a compact unit with a short retention time, used for water clarification and for tertiary settling after a biological stage, where it polishes out the solids that the biological treatment did not settle.

CXKG inclined tube settler

The CXKG range is a consolidated clarification unit: the tank, the tube packs, the hopper and the sludge discharge are built as one item and shipped as a unit. Raw water enters at the inlet and is distributed across the tube packs; the solids settle onto the tubes and slide down the incline into the sludge hopper, while the clarified water is drawn off at the top. The plant can be used on its own as a clarification stage, or as the tertiary stage that polishes the effluent of a biological train before discharge. Tank material, tube media grade and the inlet arrangement are chosen against the water being treated and the site conditions.

The CXKG model range and its capacities, tank volumes, dimensions and weights are being confirmed with the factory. The table is published once those figures are verified; final dimensions and weights are then confirmed against the site conditions and the actual build.

Tube and plate media

The settling media is the working part of the unit. Inclined tube packs are supplied in modules that drop into the tank and can be lifted out for cleaning or replacement; plate packs are used where a larger open flow area suits the solids load better. The incline angle is set so that settled solids keep moving down the surface instead of building up on it, and the media is made in a material chosen for the water being treated. Where an existing tank under-performs, media can be added to it to raise the settling area without building a new basin.

Applications

Water clarification

Clarifying surface water, process water and pond water ahead of use or discharge.

Tertiary settling

Polishing the effluent of a biological train, settling the solids that pass through secondary treatment.

Municipal and industrial plants

Clarification duty inside municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants.

Electroplating wastewater

Removing particulates from electroplating wastewater.

Dyeing and printing wastewater

Clarifying dyeing and printing wastewater.

Mining and mineral processing

Settling sand and other particulates out of mining water.

Delivery

Units are assembled and tested at our factory before shipment, then shipped with export documentation. Loading arrangement and delivery schedule: [to be confirmed with factory].
